My full list of Cosmic Car Names. @Ford does well. So does @GM, especially in their @Chevrolet line: https://t.co/ciqV5eFRnc

Celebrity scientist Neil deGrasse Tyson turned his attention toward the automotive industry in a recent tweet, but not away from the cosmos. In fact, as Tyson points out, many car names are surprisingly stellar, from the Buick Apollo, to the Chevy Equinox.
Who knew there were so many astronomy geeks naming cars?
We sell many used Subaru vehicles here at LCM Used Car Center in East Petersburg, and it came as quite a shock to learn that the entire brand has a cosmic name. "Subaru" is the Japanese name for the Pleiades star cluster.
Tyson describes the Pleiades as "a cluster of thousands of stars, gravitationally conjoined, in orbit around themselves. The unaided eye sees only six or seven of them" -- hence Subaru's famous six-star logo.
The Pleiades are also often referred to as "the Seven Sisters."
Subaru isn't the only brand with a scientific origin. Browse pre-owned cars, trucks, and SUVs near Lancaster for brands named for the mathematical concept of infinity, the planets Saturn, or Mercury, and many more.
