Things could have gone very badly for a pup at Bolivia's Rally De Santa Cruz last weekend. The stray wandered onto a live rally racing course, and was seen casually trotting along the track moments before a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution was about to fly through.

Onlookers cried out in horror, but were helpless to rescue the dog -- rally cars reach speeds over 70mph, and the dog was on the other side of a blind corner. It would be impossible for driver Fernando Zuasnabar to see a spectator in the road in time to avoid hitting them.

The speeding vehicle was feet from the little dog, which began sprinting for its life. Just when it seemed certain the dog was doomed, the Evo sprang over an embankment in the dirt, getting enough air to fly over the dog's head. It was a one-in-a-million save.

The crowd cheered.
