Oil is the life's blood of your engine... but are you sure you've got enough of it in there?
Usually, waiting until your routine service appointment isn't too dangerous, but if your oil was too low, it can cause serious engine damage. That's the heart of your car, you know.
Checking your oil in between maintenance visits is easy, and takes less than two minutes to explain.
First, make sure your engine has been off for at least 10 minutes. When it's cool, open the hood, and find your dipstick. On most Ford vehicles, it will be a yellow or orange handle.
Pull it out, and wipe it clean with a rag. Then, insert and remove the clean dipstick, and check the bottom of it. There will be two markings that the oil level should fall in between-- these may be two holes, notches, or lines.
It's as simple as that.
