Springtime is finally here - we think and hope - which means many of you will be looking to change out your winter set of tires. We here at our East Petersburg, PA dealership have seen a lot of wear and tear on tires on many used cars, and we have a few suggestions when it comes to finding the right set for you.
While used cars, especially the ones we have here at our dealership, can be maintained and are highly reliable, we can't say the same about used tires. Although you might think the reduced price on pre-owned tires might be worth it, we're going to caution you against making that decision.
When it comes to tires, there's a lot going on beneath the surface that might be wrong. Even if the treads look like they've been maintained and are in good condition, small imperfections could be causing all sorts of problems.
As tires are removed from their previous car's rims - which of course they have to be before being sold - damage can occur, even if they're removed by trained professionals. Again, this damage probably isn't noticeable to the naked eye, but can result in slow leaks which could lead to rapid deflation, which in turn would cause further damage, making the tire even less safe.
