It's almost March here in the North, and while the bulk of winter is over we will likely have one or two more storms and the weather isn't anything to get excited about. Now is a great time double check your car's winter-savvy status.
Here are some things to watch out for as this harsh season comes to an end:
- Did you know that wiper blades should be replaced ever 6-12 months? With winter being hard on these pieces of equipment, now might be a time to consider finding replacements
- Make sure you check your cars tire pressure; soft tires are more likely to slip and skid on the road
- Have the battery tested to make sure it's still going strong. Cold weather loves to prey on your battery power
- Check the level of your wiper fluid. With all the dirt and grime you've probably used a fair amount, and it's never fun for that light to come on when you aren't by a local store
- Reevaluate emergency kit. Maybe you took the shovel out to do your walkway and didn't put it back. Or you nibbled on some reserve food when you rushed to work. It's still cold and having a good supply of essentials can be a difference maker if you go off the road
