In order to improve the maintenance of your car's tires, designers Gao Fenglin and Zhou Buyi have developed what is called the Discolor Tyre. Rather than resorting to the old method of sticking a penny in a tire's treads to determine if it is too warn down, they have created a much easier method. They included an orange colored layer under the rubber that will be revealed once the tread is worn down to a certain point. They are estimating that the orange will begin to reveal only after 12,000 miles or so.
Another great feature to this technology is that it will allow you to spot a tear or leak in the tire. All you have to do is look for the orange coloring to know that a possible repair is needed. While these would certainly be a great addition to our used car service center, we unfortunately don't have any details regarding the official production of these innovative tires. New products like this must undergo extensive testing before they are approved for manufacturing.
