When it comes to childhood memories, Hot Wheels cars were a staple in the lives of many children. In fact, even today it's a toy that resides in toy boxes around the world. They can be somewhat addicting, especially when trying to master the tricky double loop successfully. Well now, Hot Wheels has taken this challenge to a whole new level, and we have the latest story for you right here on our blog.
Premiering at the 2012 X-Games, Hot Wheels constructed a double loop for actual cars to attempt in a daring stunt. It's crazy to picture the miniature loops you played with as a child, transforming into two 66-foot-tall loops, but Hot Wheels made it happen. Experienced racers Greg Tracy and Tanner Foust took on the challenge successfully and even made a YouTube documentary about their journey towards mastering the stunt.
The vehicle that was put to the test was a Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback. Hot Wheels connected it to a remote-control system so it could test out the life-sized double loop. All the necessary precautions had to be taken to ensure the track was safe enough for actual drivers to attempt. The first few trials weren't all that successful, but after lots of trial and error, it was prepped for the main event.
