The experts here at LCM Used Car Center aren't just interested in helping you find a used car  that fits your needs; they want to make sure you and your used car have a long life together. Which is why we recommend keeping your headlights clean so you can be safe while driving at night.

At a glance, headlights might seem like the kind of thing that require minimum care. After all, they're automatically cleaned when you wash your car. However, they serve a different function, and are made out of different materials than the rest of your car.

Headlights are made out of plastic which makes them easily replaceable, but also susceptible to scratches and attracting grime. That said, it's best to clean you headlights using an oxidized headlight cleaner. This will remove any haze, dirt, and buff out any minor scratches as well.

Noticing larger scratches on your headlights? Using barebones, white toothpaste can provide a slightly stronger buff to any scratches. For those stubborn scratches that really won't budge, one final tip is to use light sandpaper that's been soaked in water and a 3M rubbing compound with a buffing pad. Doing so will allow you to really tackle a deep imperfection without damaging the headlight.
