Driving Green Helps Save Gas

Most of us are aware of how driving cars affects the environment. The vapors produced when gasoline is burned helps contribute to air pollution. But, there are things you can do to increase your fuel economy, save money, and help decrease your carbon footprint.

The following tips will help you increase your gas mileage and save the environment:

  • Slow down when driving. Try to drive the speed limit or just under it to increase fuel efficiency. Just be sure not to drive so slowly that you inhibit the flow of traffic.
  • Don't accelerate too quickly or slam on the brakes too fast. Doing this burns more gas.
  • Use the cruise control when you're driving on the highway. Maintaining a steady speed instead of constantly accelerating and braking will increase your gas mileage.
  • Don't let your car sit idle for too long. Turn your engine off if you're going to be sitting for over 30 seconds unless you're at a stoplight.
